Pre-Transfer Advising
Advising is offered for all prospective students virtually through Zoom, over the phone, and via email. UMD Pre-Transfer Advising Program Managers are available to work specifically with students who currently attend Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), Howard Community College (HCC), Montgomery College (MC), or Prince George’s Community College (PGCC). Review directions below to connect with a Pre-Transfer Advising Program Manager.
Pre-Transfer Advising is also available for prospective students currently attending other institutions not listed above. Questions and requests for advising can be submitted to pretransferadvising@umd.edu. Be sure to add this email to your address book and check your spam folder if you do not receive a timely response. Pre-Transfer Advising for students currently attending Howard Community College (HCC) is available via Zoom, phone, and email at this time. Please complete the following steps if you would like to meet with Jill Nagiel, the UMD Pre-Transfer Advising Program Manager for HCC:
- Book an appointment time.
- E-mail an unofficial copy of all of your college transcripts, including a list of courses you are currently taking (cut-and-paste or photo is acceptable) to Jill at jnagiel@umd.edu
- Review the UMD Pre-Transfer Advising website and prepare questions for your meeting.
Montgomery College students may email the UMD Pre-Transfer Advising Program Managers for MC to receive assistance at MCpretransfer@umd.edu. Students may also request a referral for a UMD Pre-Transfer Advising appointment from an MC counselor through Starfish.
Pre-Transfer Advising for students currently attending PGCC is available via Zoom and email at this time. View the UMD Pre-Transfer Advising at PGCC page to access resources and receive assistance.
Pre-Transfer Advising is also available for students not attending AACC, HCC, MC or PGCC. Students from any other Maryland community college or other institution may attend an information session, virtual chat sessions, or receive individual advising. Review the calendar below for event descriptions and how to request an invitation. Questions and requests for appointments can be submitted to pretransferadvising@umd.edu.

Calendar
Information sessions will cover a general overview of resources for transfer students, provide information about transfer credits, and review majors and programs. Students may also attend virtual chat hours to ask questions one-on-one with an advisor. Both types of sessions are only for prospective transfer students.
