About
The Pre-Transfer Advising Program at the University of Maryland supports prospective transfer students and connects them to resources that enhance and ease their transition to the university. Program Managers assist students with academic planning, including course selection, estimating time to UMD graduation, and major and career exploration. Advising services are offered virtually through Zoom, over the phone, and via email. Students may attend a general information session or receive individual advising.
The program is housed at the University of Maryland, and also includes advising at four local community colleges: Anne Arundel Community College, Howard Community College, Montgomery College and Prince George’s Community College. Students are encouraged to use the service to assess their readiness to transfer, but it is not a requirement for admission.
Pre-Transfer Advising is most helpful for students at Maryland Community Colleges and who are at least one year from transferring. Please note that questions regarding the admission process including deadlines, academic requirements, and the application to the University of Maryland should be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (by e-mail, telephone at 301.314.8377, or in person on the ground floor of the Mitchell Building).
