Program Manager, Pre-Transfer Advising for Anne Arundel Community College

Imani joined the Pre-Transfer Advising staff after serving as an Academic Advisor for the Neuroscience Major in the College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences and as a Graduate Assistant in the Smith School of Business. In these roles, Imani helped students successfully plan and prepare for their academic journeys at the University of Maryland.

Prior to coming to the University of Maryland, Imani earned her Associate’s Degree from Vance-Granville Community College and then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in Chapel Hill, she completed her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Education. After graduation, Imani was given the opportunity to fulfill her passion by working with the Carolina College Advising Corps in Warren County, NC where she advised and assisted under-represented students in the college application process. During her two years with the Corps, she decided to advance her studies to continue to help students excel during their collegiate years. Her desire to help brought her to the University of Maryland- College Park to earn her M. Ed. in Higher Education, Student Affairs & International Education Policy. Imani is extremely passionate about the first-generation college student experience as she is one herself.

Outside of work, you can find Imani spending time with her community, trying different restaurants, and traveling to new places!
