Transfer Credits

The University of Maryland provides resources that allow prospective students to see how their past transfer coursework may apply to a degree and aid them in future course selection.

Transfer Credit Services

Students may use the Transfer Course Database to view how courses taken at other institutions will transfer to UMD. Courses not listed in the database will be evaluated upon admission to the university. Students may request that courses be evaluated prior to admission. To do so, send an email to with your name, school name, course ID, and syllabi for courses that require an evaluation.

Please note that a maximum of 60 credits from a community or two-year college or 90 credits from a four-year institution (or a combination of two- and four-year institutions) may apply toward a UMD degree. If admitted students have more courses transferrable than the maximum amount allowed, an academic advisor will help identify the most applicable credits that can apply to the student's degree requirements.

Maryland Community College Students

Students attending a Maryland public community college can use the Recommended Transfer Program option on ARTSYS to identify courses at their current institution that may transfer successfully to UMD.
